Great fabric, fun projects!

Finally some pictures of my latest projects. I completely fell in love with all of this material so it was very easy to make something nice out of it and I have to say, I'm quite happy with the results! First, lovely brown embroidery fabric.
I bought this with the intention of making a skirt, as the bottom hem just naturally lends itself to that. I really need to get some skills, though, because I once again opted for the elastic waist. I still love the skirt, so comfy and cool in the warm weather!
I had leftover material and we all went to Luke's little friend Rachel's 3rd birthday party, so I made her a little dress out of the extra material. I even made a bit of a lining for the top part, and was very pleasantly surprised with how this little project turned out too! It sure helps that the model is one super cute little girl! Isn't she stunning? And she's holding a fabulous little handbag that her mother, one of my sewing inspirations, made for her. Michelle is so talented at picking good fabric and making gorgeous things!
Finally, here's a diaper bag for my friend Jodi. She's due with baby 2 in August, and we went shopping together to find some fabric for this bag. I must say, she picked some gorgeous stuff! I love the earthiness of this bag and I think it'll suit her very much. She really liked the style I made for Jaimee so that's what she got...with a few variations on pockets and inside diaper holding bag.

Voila! No other projects currently on the go so expect a slight pause...I still need motivation for Samuel's quilt as I keep hemming and hawing between a rag quilt and a more traditional quilt. I do have some more cotton fabric to potentially make a skirt or shirt, but see above comment about needing more skills. I think I need to browse some good sewing tutorials...but we have some other things on the go right now so I don't know that sewing will make the top priorities list right now! I must say, though, listening to Steve Bell last night in an otherwise quiet house while sewing was quite an enjoyable experience, so who knows? Maybe I can scheme some time and another project in somewhere...
