Lilypad and friends craft sale pictures

We had a great day last Saturday and a big thanks to all of you who came out to support the crafters! We had a good turn-out and already scheming our fall craft sale. Here are some pictures of the day. If you would like to personally contact any one of the sellers to purchase something still, let me know and I will pass their info along to you.

This is "Simply Kaptured Photography" by Stephanie, along with her fabulous baking which was so beautifully packaged...she even had samples for people to try. Her photography is beautiful and she has made some amazing cards, gift tags, and magnets from them.

Next we have "Bum Buckets" and "Sock Critters" by Hilori. Her diapers are so great and are very affordable...it makes going the cloth route so do-able. I highly recommend contacting her if you are at all thinking about doing cloth diapers for your little one. I hope to finally get it right round 3 and do the cloth thing, and have happily already purchased a set of diapers from her. I can't wait to have a little babe to put them on! Her sock critters are also amazing...those lips get me every time.

Next we have "The Button Jar" by Michelle. Gorgeous dresses and shirts from repurposed and new fabrics, not to mention adorable dollhouses and barns. I am always amazed at how she puts patterns and colours together...beautiful! I hear rumors of aprons on the horizon too...be sure to check out her blog! And finally, Lilypad! Jaimee and I worked hard to get a lot made before the sale and were both quite happy to see our creations go to good homes. We have now added shopping bags to our repertoire, not to mention burp cloths and fabulous crocheted baby loafers and maryjanes. Contact us to custom order a pair - you pick the colour and size! Our other popular items were slings (we had lots of mommies and tummies out and willing little babies to try out our slings), bibs, blankets, bags and diaper clutches. Another new item is personalized bean bags - makes a great, personal gift for children of all ages.

Keep checking out lilypad on etsy (see side link) as we will be posting new items shortly. I truly have a deeper appreciation for hand-made items and for the care and thoughtfulness that goes into each creation after this sale. There is just something so satisfying about celebrating each other's creativeness...thank you for sharing in that with us!

THIS SATURDAY!

I'm pleased to announce Lilypad's debut craft sale, this Saturday, May 2nd, from 10am - 3pm at my place, 885 Renfrew St in Winnipeg. Please come and bring a friend! All the crafters are amazing and there will be an opportunity to custom order bags and other items as well, so if we don't have it, we'll make it for you!
I have also been meaning to post pictures of the bags my friend Jaimee and I made for a wedding a while back. So, here they are, or rather one of the forty. Shopping bags will be available at the sale as well I might add!!

current projects

Here's a grocery bag in the style of the 40 that Jaimee and I are making for our bride-to-be in Japan...this is made from some light cotton material I had, not the Japanese bag fabric. I will post a picture of a nice heap of those eventually...we are still very much plugging away at those!!
And this was a present for our little one-year-old buddy Isaac, Jaimee's adorable son. Six beanbags with a matching drawstring bag...
And I just posted 4 more blankets on our Etsy site, so go check it out! Jaimee and I are planning a craft sale for March 28th at my place, from about noon-5pm, along with some other fellow crafters so stay tuned for more details! And if you know some crafty women that would like to be a part of our day, let me know!!

a bag, a clutch and a bunch of shopping bags

A few projects I've been working on...
First, a diaper clutch with some fabric I've been wanting to do something with for a while. A bag for a new friend and neighbour, expecting a baby any day!!

And finally, Jaimee and I have been working on making 40 re-usable shopping bags as guest favors for a wedding...the fabric is fantastic and after sewing many of these bags already, I'm still not sick of it. I won't post pictures until after her wedding, in case, by chance, someone stumbles across this, but I will say that you will be seeing these bags on etsy at some point, so stay tuned! Maybe not in the fabric she sent us, from Japan, but for sure in other fabric. It's such a fun idea and a beautiful wedding favor and I am so glad to be able to do this for her! Anyway, yes, I am still sewing... :)

a bag and a new project

My mother-in-law is going to the Dominican Republic for a bit in the near future for a mission's trip, and guess what?!? She needed a new bag. So here it is!

And so, with the leftover fabric I started working on my second prototype for a re-useable shopping bag. It rolls up into a little bundle and this one does up with a button. Nifty, hey?

Opened up, and buttoned down.

All rolled up and ready to pop in your purse for your next shopping trip, to the mall, to the grocery store...it's made of heavy-weight material and all seams are double-stitched, so it should be nice and durable for all your shopping needs :).

Prototype A, in lightweight denim with ties. All tied-up and ready to go! I've already used this little bag a couple of times and have found it very handy.

Current fabric selections...

Here's an update with some more fabric! These first few are from Jaimee's collection.
Autumn petal party (slings)
green stripes (sling)

plum trees (slings)

Dick & Jane flannel

Jungle Animals flannel

Pink plaid flannel

Here are some samples of material currently available. If you would like to request a custom order, please refer to the name listed under each fabric.

The following fabrics are a mid to heavy-weight and would be good for bags and diaper clutches.
orange/red stripes

charcoal with black and silver stripes
circles circles

green giraffe print

decorative circles

blue leaves

purple stripes...with flash

purple stripes...without flash. I had trouble getting a good picture of this. I wish Kevin Grant Photography lived in my basement.

animal print

beige with blue satin leaves
dark pink solidcalliope - pink, orange and yellow (nice with the above solid)

hourglass

soft leaves

butterflies on multi-coloured
butterflies on multi-coloured part 2

orange boardwalk
And this is some flannel that got a little bit pink-ish on the lighter areas. I hesitate to even say that, because it almost just looks like a salmon-y beige and with the right back it could be cute. Anyway, I am considering trying to re-dye this a bit to take out the pink, but if a bit of pink is for you, let me know!

As far as our flannel goes, we have quite a bit more, so check out our etsy site to see our current blanket selections, and if you'd like bibs or a change pad in one of the blanket fabrics, just email us at lilypadshop@live.ca or convo us on etsy for a custom order. Thanks for looking!
